Writing Coaching
free initial 30 minute consultation
$65 / hour
When your project has stalled, you’re going in circles, or you can’t seem to find the time or the motivation to create. This is when an effective writing coach, one who can help you reconnect with your project’s original vision and spirit, can make the difference. It might not take much! Together, we will work to establish a rhythm for your artistic labour, address any challenges or naysaying inner voices that have cropped up, and build your creative resources to make your project happen.
Developmental Edit

1 hour meeting after the edit to discuss my feedback and the next steps for your project
For everything up to and including that first draft. Are you swimming in research, notes and ideas, and aren’t sure how to fit everything together? Maybe you’ve got a rough draft of your project but you’re quite sure where to go from there? You could benefit from a seasoned eye to check for gaps and overemphasis, and give you substantive feedback about structure, flow, focus, framing, and other important elements.
For works of fiction, I review all major craft elements in your genre such as characterization, dialogue, point of view, storyline, plot, narrator, storyworld setting, symbolism, etc. For works of non-fiction, I review for elements like accessibility for the intended audience, organization, the viability of claims and assumptions, logical flow, narrative voice and and the use of evidence. Plus any of the creative craft elements that may apply.
First Chapter Edit

When you want some feedback on how to draw your reader in, and/or some guidance to focus and polish up your project. Now that you’ve got all the content down on paper, it’s time to work it all up. Did you think you were finished? You’d better catch your second wind because the “up draft”, as Anne Lamott puts it, is where much of the artistry happens. Think: elevate. My review gives you expert guidance and feedback on your opening and the relationship you’re building with your reader.
